Dave West is the CEO of Scrum.org. He is passionate about the future of work and how to build organizations that unlock the potential for everyone in a complex world. A frequent keynote speaker and widely published author.
His books include The Nexus Framework For Scaling Scrum and Head First Object-Oriented Analysis and Design.
Prior to joining Scrum.org he was Chief Product Officer at Tasktop where he was responsible for product management, engineering and architecture.

In the early Scrum projects, Scrum Master was a role (accountability), but over the last 15 years the Scrum Master has gone from a naturally occurring role to one that is part of the overall organization design. As organizations look to trim costs and remove overhead, this has become a topic of hot debate.
Do organizations need Scrum Masters? And should they be a specialist, separate role?

What I liked most about the summit was the sense of community. Seeing familiar faces in the sessions made it feel like we were in the same room, despite participants joining from all over the world!
